Financial Assistance at SVHC
From its very beginning, SVHC has provided care for community members regardless of their ability to pay. Even today, SVHC has generous policies for providing free care or reduced-cost care to those who need it.
Vermont offers several options to help people get health insurance coverage. These include Medicaid, Dr. Dynasaur, and VPharm. To learn more about these programs go to Vermont Health Connect or call 855-899-9600.
New York has programs including Child Health Plus, Medicaid, Essential Plan, and QHP (Qualified Health Plan). More information can be found at the New York State Department of Health or call 855-355-5777.
SVHC Financial Assistance
The policy extends to anyone who earns less than 400 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, and limited personal assets. Even when someone does not qualify for Financial Assistance, SVHC works with people of limited means to help them with their medical bills. Southwestern Vermont Medical Center has certified assistants to help apply for health care. For assistance applying for insurance coverage call 802-440-4083.
In fiscal year 2017, SVHC provided $2.37 million in charity care.
SVMC's patient accounting office also can help patients get an estimate for the cost of hospital services, including any physician practices we operate. To provide an accurate estimate, we may need information from your physician. Call our patient accounting office for more information at (802) 447-4500.
